LINE COOK

As a Cook or Station chef, you will be an important part of the team. As we grow this new restaurant, there will be great opportunities to grow and adapt with us. As a new concept in downtown Phoenixville, we will produce an array of top quality small bites, and bar food. with nearly 100 seats, we plan to see medium volume in food sales. We offer competitive pay, varying with experience and depth of knowledge. We are seeking both full time and part-time team members who wish to become an important part of something new.

 

Cooks will operate under the Chef to test and master the various menu items. All Cook positions will report directly to the Executive Chef to ensure a smooth operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

  • Prepare ingredients to use for the line(following standard recipes)

  • Cook food with proper utensils and equipment

  • Execute menu items with a consistent quality or to meet the guest's needs

  • Weigh/measure food to ensure portion control is followed

  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at work station and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery

  • Minimize waste and save food costs

  • Check food while it's cooking (use timers, stir sauces etc.)

  • Ensure proper presentation

  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

  • Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards

  • Ensure all food and other items are stored and dated/labeled properly

  • Check the quality of ingredients(check for freshness before serving)

  • Monitor stock and let the chef know if there's a shortage

  • Maintain cleanliness and good working condition of all work areas, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves

  • Break down work stations after shift and organize/clean kitchen for the next shift

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line supervisor, sous-chef, or executive chef

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills

  • Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail

  • Ability to read and follow cooking directions

  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be organized and self-motivated

  • Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials

  • Able to lift/carry items of 50 lbs

  • 2 years cooking experience preferred (not required)

  • ServSafe a plus

  • Upscale culinary training is a plus

  • Must be willing to work evening and weekend shifts

  • be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds

  • Assist in delivery/pickup of Kegs, festival gear, etc.

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
