Battle of the Blues!

Who wants to go to Memphis!?!

Steel City Blues Society (SCBS) is looking to represent one band and one solo/duo act in the Memphis International Blues Competition to be held January 24-28, 2023 on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee!

SCBS will provide a stipend (to be determined) for the competition winners. Accepting applications until 11/09/2022.

The Host Venue is "The SoundBank" in Phoenixville (119 S. Main St, Phoenixville, PA 19460) and the date for the band battle is Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:00 (pending entries). Auditions are limited and YOU MUST SIGN UP BEFOREHAND. Submitting an application is no guarantee of performing.

Acts will be asked to play 3 to 4 songs (25 mins) depending on the number of sign-ups. Scoring will be based on; Talent, Vocals, Blues Content, Stage Presence and Originality. We will use the same scoring as the IBC. Please visit  https://blues.org/international-blues-challenge/

To reflect the relative importance of each category in the success of a band, a band's score in each category is weighted. Raw scores for Blues Content are multiplied by four, Talent and Vocals by three and Originality and Stage Presence are multiplied by two. The total in each category represents the Weighted Score for that category. Total possible weighted score is 140.
